Den-Den: Tokyo Horror
Den-Den: Tokyo Horror is an open world, survival horror experience where you play as a caregiver for the elderly. Each night for one week, you must navigate the dark streets of Tokyo, choosing where to go and whom to care for. Not everyone can be saved.
Manage your limited resources, which are needed not only for the sake of those dependent upon you, but also for your own survival. Time is not on your side, and the people have been cursed by something evil. How many deaths will be on your watch this week?
Roots
Back in the old days of our studio, when we were creating games inside of Fortnite, one of the games we created was called Den-Den: Tokyo Horror. At the time, it was one of our most successful games we had made in Fortnite.
When we were originally making it in Fortnite, we kept thinking to ourselves how awesome it would be to make a full game out of it. We were so limited with what we could do inside of the Fortnite toolset. Fast forward into the future, and here we are as a studio after the successful release of Water Delivery.
Once we finished development on Water Delivery, we knew it was time to go back to our roots and recreate the original concept of the idea by turning it into a fully fleshed out gaming experience using Unreal Engine 5 for release on Steam.
Influences
Den-Den: Tokyo Horror is inspired by a combination of many influences.
Firstly, we have a deep love for J-Horror movies such as Ju-On, Noroi: The Curse, Ringu, Onibaba, etc.
Secondly, we have a passion for the Immersive Sim genre of games. Games such as Pathologic 2, Bioshock, Prey, Dishonored and Deus-Ex.
Lastly, we love the Japanese survival horror genre of games, such as Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Dino Crisis and Fatal Frame.
We wanted to combine these influences and channel it into a game of our own, with the result being Den-Den: Tokyo Horror. This game will be our most ambitious title to date, and we believe we have something special cooking up in the oven for all of you to enjoy.
We wouldn't be at this point had it not been for the success of Water Delivery and the joy (or perhaps fear) that all of you experienced with it. The success from that game has led us to be able to make something new, ambitious, and different for all of you.
Conclusion
As we get closer to release, we plan to continue to share updates, screenshots, trailers and more information about the game.
Please stay tuned, and remember to wishlist and follow the game on Steam to receive the most up-to-date information.
