DARKNESS MECHANIC REWORK

Greetings lost souls! Just a week ago, we released Heretical in Early Access, making it a truly major milestone for us. As expected, this opened the game to a wider audience, but also immediately came with a challenge to tackle: the Darkness mechanic. As we could read in the negative (and some positive) reviews, as well as in comments in the Discussion threads here on Steam, Darkness turned out to be a pretty challenging mechanic. So much, that even though some players really liked the game, they nevertheless had to leave a negative review in order to voice their concern over this challenging mechanic. So, naturally, we read all of that and got the message: something needs to be done about Darkness. And that's exactly what we're doing right now. Thanks to all the feedback and conversations with the players, we settled on a new approach to both Darkness and Cursed Items mechanics, which will be available for beta testing in the coming days. So, in order to do it right, we'd like to use this opportunity to invite to our Discord anyone who'd like to beta-test the new version of Darkness. Just look for the #beta-access channel to get all the information on how to jump in. Here's the invite link: https://discord.gg/m5rQCmHxtM In conclusion, we couldn't be more stoked about going to Early Access, since this is exactly what we wanted to do with Heretical: engage our community in the development process to make it the best game it can possibly be. Hopefully, we'll also succeed to turn those negative reviews to positive ones, since almost every single one of them came as a result of the unfair Darkness mechanic. Which is totally fair, to be honest. Once we release the Darkness rework to the public version of the game, we'll post again here as well. That's it for now... THANK YOU ALL FOR THE SUPPORT!!!
