Hello everyone,
Over the weekend, I received messages from many players, and it’s clear that more people than I expected want to keep playing Wrecked. Some are enjoying quality time with friends, others are working toward in-game achievements, and some simply appreciate having access to a game they’ve enjoyed in the past.
As a gamer myself, I understand and appreciate all these reasons, so I’ve decided to keep the game available for now.
While there’s no fixed end date, please keep in mind that Wrecked can’t remain up indefinitely. The game has not received updates or support in a long time, and the in-game store no longer generates revenue. Meanwhile, maintaining the database does involve ongoing costs.
Given the game’s small player base and the relatively low grind for in-game rewards, this lack of revenue isn’t surprising. But more than that, I’ve come to realize that I don’t want to rely on pushing players to make in-game purchases to keep a game afloat. I would rather offer a quality product at a fair, one-time price than lean on microtransactions.
Looking forward, I hope to find time to create a sequel to Wrecked. While there’s no timeline for this, and I can’t promise anything yet, I would aim to keep it accessible. A potential model could be to keep the game free with a few paid DLCs for additional maps or features. This approach would allow continued development while keeping the game open to a broad audience.
Thank you all for your enthusiasm and support for this project.
Best,
Marco
