Bad news and some updates

So hey everybody, it's Myre36 here, main developer of the game. I'm not even sure how many people are going to see this, since I'm sure 95% of the people that downloaded this game uninstalled it after playing it and are not going to look at it ever again lol. But I just felt like sharing some news. As those who played our game know, this was originally a student project. It was made in three weeks and we never really intended to release it on Steam, but later we wanted to try it out just so that we would get the experience of doing so. The game released with a bunch of flaws, like many reviews pointed out, which we were going to fix, but couldn't because of schoolwork. It wouldn't have been a massive update, just small fixes. We know some people wanted this to be a larger experience, but that was never really our plan, not in this project anyway. Then I began working on fixing the game in my free time, just small changes. Here were some of the issues I was planning to fix:

Changing some buttons in the pause menu, since many players are used to using esc to resume a game, but in our case esc exited the game. So, I wanted to change that.
Fix the problem where stairs would slow you down to a crawl.
Fix some clipping issues with the stairs.
Fix an issue where the footstep sound wouldn't play at times.
Removing the ability to crouch, since it was a pointless feature. We were originally going to use it, but scrapped it midway through development and just forgot to remove it.
Add a sensitivity slider.
Add a volume slider.
Increase the speed of the moving platform in the last puzzle to increase the challenge and so that people wouldn't have to wait too long if they fell off.
Make it so that players can't shrink or grow until they reach the puzzles where those features are relevant. We wanted to do this since some players would accidentally turn themselves large at the start of the game and not know how to turn normal again, meaning they wouldn't be able to progress.
Replace the floor texture so that the walls and floor don't share the same texture.
As well as optimizing the code and removing some minor bugs we noticed in people's speedruns.
These were our changes. Probably would've had some effect on people's speedruns lol. So, I was working through the list in my free time and was almost done, until Unity, the engine we use, crashed. That isn't abnormal, Unity crashes from time to time, but when I opened the project up again, I was faced with some problems. For some reason, the player speed and jumping power were messed up. As those who've played the game know, when you grow or shrink, your speed and jumping power change. It was a vital aspect to some puzzles, and was pretty important. But for some reason after the crash, the movement speed would not change. The script was working, I could see the values change in the inspector, but for some reason the player's speed and jump were always stuck at the values they started at. This is weird, since I wasn't messing with the player speed before the crash and even when I removed the changes I made, it didn't get fixed. I spent hours trying to figure what the problems was, but couldn't. I discussed it with my teammates, and they had no idea. I asked my teacher, who has more experience in Unity than we do, and he did not know what was wrong. Since the player speed and jump is pretty important to the game, we cannot push out these changes, without this new weird movement speed being followed with, which would mess up the puzzles. So, it looks like we're scrapping the fixes and are no longer able to work on this particular project. Meaning that the game will stay on Steam in its current state forever. Which means all the speedruns stay relevant lol. But, I also wanted to share some other news on other projects we're working on. Project N3T: This is the project we are currently working on. It's another school project. It's not a direct sequel to Project R4T, but it is very similar and in the same universe. It has a different gimmick than Project R4T has, instead of growing and shrinking, you do something else. I won't share what it is now, that will be talked about at a later date ;) Project R4T5: While Project N3T is not a direct sequel to Project R4T, this is. Work hasn't started on it yet, and we're not even sure if we're going to make it, but we've been throwing around ideas for a sequel. It would have the player take the role of Subject 4 again, and they would go back to Quanti to do some further testing on the QSR. But this time, they would have someone accompany them, Subject 5. The two players would work together to solve puzzles, and make their way to the end. As I said, we're not sure if we are going to make it, but it's just something we've got on the table. And that's it! Sorry to the one fan who was just waiting for us to add a volume slider, but sadly that will have to be scrapped lol. Look forward to any further news on Project N3T, and maybe later down the line, Project R4T5 :)
