Today marks the 2nd anniversary of B.O.T.S. and the Robofriends and its release on Steam. Today is a day we remember the milestone that was met when Game Grotto Softworks released their first indie game title. But we also look back and reflect on the lives of those effected by the COVID 19 Pandemic in the year of our release, 2020. Two years ago today, the Game Grotto crew was set to attend conventions around the American west coast and share their game with the thousands of gamers. But the reality of COVID 19 made interacting with fans of the game, once a moment of celebration for the hardworking individuals who worked on the team, a distant dream. Even though the Game Grotto team accepted this reality, and the realities of the pandemic, the effects of the pandemic did not stop. Conventions reassured guests that their tickets would be refunded, but when it came to the vendors, they were not so lucky. The safety of the American people was protected at the cost of businesses run by hard-working individuals. And as quarantines stayed up, the ability to interact with potential fans drifted farther and farther away. Not only did this effect the sales and financial needs of the games production, but it also weighed on the spirits of the ones who created a game they could no longer share. Today we remember what we lost. not just the lives that departed this world, but the lives of every small business and the dreams that COVID 19 damaged. We reflect on what this pandemic has done and make the decision to keep moving forward, in spite of every obstacle being stacked against us.
