ATTENTION OPERATORS!

Hey everyone, Welcome to my first weekly development news post! I'm thrilled to share the current state and future plans for Borderline Enigma. In this initial community post for my debut title, I'd like to share a bit about myself and bring you up to speed on the development process. As a solo developer, I hold high expectations for the future. My journey began in the summer of 2022 as I immersed myself in learning Unreal Engine until June 2023, when I began crafting the first elements of Borderline Enigma. During this period, the game primarily focused on core features, drawing inspiration from Tin Can. But at the end, it turned out I was inspired more from games like Papers Please and Not For Broadcast. Over the following months, I experimented with various ideas and prototyped numerous mechanics, although not all made it to the semi-final development stage. Simultaneously, progress was made towards a functional gameplay (or at least, that was my intention). Initially, my first title was meant to be a game conceived in the second quarter of 2021. However, its complexity proved too demanding for a first-time developer. Despite this setback, I held onto the idea. The world and story I created provided the perfect foundation for expanding the universe, with certain characters too compelling to discard. This became the baseline for Borderline Enigma's story and world-building. With less conflict on Earth, attention shifted to the galaxy, leading to prosperity through expansion. While not everyone embraced the change, it became the reality for the species. Mineral-rich and promising planets were surveyed, some colonized, and others were already home to various inhabitants. Everything is new, and your training wasn't detailed enough for this hostile environment. Yet, here you are, alone in deep space, navigating consoles that could be a game-changer for Ukknar. This game aims to tell a story, but more than that, it's about a story with possibilities, uncertainties and some dilemmas. My next post will be more towards the actual gameplay rather than me talking nonsense. So, stay tuned and take care! See ya!
