Hi fellow gamers! If you’d be interested in a creature evolution RPG similar to Miscreation, but in 3D, please check out our upcoming game Strange Seed:

Start out on one of the tropical islands of New Haven as a shape-shifting, DNA-eating slime. Chew your way through salamanders, seagulls and crabs to assume your initial shape. Take on bigger, stronger opponents as you work your way up the food chain. Mammals, birds, insects, dinosaurs and more are all on the menu!
To give you an idea of how it looks, here are a few mutants that were randomly spliced together by our creature constructor:

When we built Miscreation, we were a much younger team. Many rounds of prototypes went by before we figured out the basic form of the game. Later, when we’d nailed down the systems, our funds began dwindling. We pushed the game out in a state that turned out to be too buggy, then spent a month frantically fixing bugs before we had to hurl ourselves into contract work elsewhere — or else see our bank account go into negatives.
Now, 5 years later, we’re much better game developers, and we hope to reflect that in how we develop Strange Seed. We’re pushing hard to launch a demo by late August and start getting player feedback on everything — mechanics, creatures, and definitely, bugs. We want players to be deeply involved from start to finish.
We also think Strange Seed will be a more interesting game. Miscreation was, based on what we’ve been told and our high average playtime, actually pretty good! … outside of those bugs. But Strange Seed will do more.
One of our big game design focuses is making evolves really game-changing, enough that Strange Seed could also be called a Metroidvania. Big, strong creatures can break down barriers; thin, small ones can traverse hidden holes; lightweight creatures with wings can fly; smart ones can read a biology textbook… Of course, you may need to eat a human’s brain to get that last one.
We’re also pondering a pacifist playthrough mode, in which you dance, squirt (pheromones), and rub against other creatures to peacefully acquire their DNA.
It’s early days: we began work on Strange Seed in January 2023, and we don’t plan to launch until mid-2024. But your support and interest would mean the world to us. It’s terrifying to start on a big new game and every wishlist or comment counts.
Thank you for reading!
