An Open Letter to Our Players

Bladed fury

An action game set in the Ancient China, bringing players addictive experiences with its unique Chinese traditional art-style and sound design.

We are very happy to announce that Bladed Fury is coming to Steam very soon. As developers, we are excited because after 16 months, we finally reached our goal to develop a Chinese-style action game, but we are also anxious because we are not sure how it will be received by our players. So we wrote this letter to calm ourselves down and to tell you more about the game. Bladed Fury is a 2D side-scrolling action game, based on the Warring States Period story of the "Usurpation of Qi by Tian", where the Jiang clan, ruler of the Qi State, was deposed and replaced by members of the Tian clan. We created an exciting world by adding imaginary technologies and fantasy elements to actual Chinese history. In terms of design, we took inspirations from Muramasa: The Demon Blade, one of our developers' favorites, and used bold, vibrant colors on top of exaggerated physiques. We also used Chinese ink wash painting and traditional drama elements to show the game's roots in Chinese aesthetics. For combat, the familiar light/heavy attack system is used to generate combos. We also focused on making the movements smooth and fluid, while adding guard abilities and the Soul Sliver system to enhance the combat experience. We want to give players more freedom while they're fighting, so they can alternate between offense and defense instantly and experience the thrill of being in total control of the character. This game is developed by a group of action game enthusiasts, with relevant development experience in games such as Alice: Madness Returns, Moonlight Blade and Monster Hunter. We really wanted to create a high-quality action game that is developed by a Chinese team and full of Chinese elements, and Bladed Fury is the result. Of course there are things that we can improve on, and that's where you come in. Your feedback will not only help us improve this game, but will also give us ideas on how to make better games in the future. Our goal is to develop a game that's as good as Muramasa. Finally, we hope you enjoy the game and give us a good rating.
