Merlin, the enigmatic castellan of the flying Fortress of the Round, records her thoughts, observations, and research in her voluminous magical memoir during her travels. The following is one such entry from that magical memoir. "... Without the Knights of the Round to challenge him, The Overlord's corruption continues to permeate throughout the land of Alda. It will not be long before malefic energy spreads beyond the shores of the mainland and infects the surrounding territories. Northwest of the continent of Alda lies one such yet-uncorrupted domain— the island of Chattawak. The island was of little import before the rise of the Overlord, and his forces were content to ignore the trifling island to focus on grander threats. Now, no such grand threats remain, and it will only be a matter of time before the forces of evil deign to expand their influence across the island. Perhaps the only reason the Overlord’s forces have yet to invade Chattawak in earnest, is that the island's only civilized population is a single Migmy settlement nestled between the mountains. Building into the bluffs and hills surrounding them, the inhabitants of Fewmy Village live a modest agricultural life as farmers, millers, and herbalists. As Fewmy Village is so sparsely populated, most young and able-bodied Migmys are needed to work on their families' farms or mills, forcing them to forgo any combat or defense training. The lack of their frontier training combined with the Mygmy's natural disposition to avoid conflict has left Fewmy Village woefully unprotected and unprepared in the face of a demonic incursion. It's rumored that there only happens to be a single capable warrior in the entire village, and even more worrying, just a single healer to care for the village's sick and injured. Luckily for Fewmy Village, the surrounding area is relatively safe and free of monsters, with the notable exception of a nearby goblin settlement. Thankfully for Fewmy Village, the goblins tend to be even more reclusive than the Migmys, rarely venturing outside of their territory in the greater Fewmy Valley. However, one should never mistake the goblin's reclusivity for cowardice, as they are quick to ambush unaware travelers who unknowingly stumble into their territory. Many an unprepared adventurer has met their end at a swarm of goblins with crudely forged knives and pilfered hatchets. Typically, the goblins remain entirely in the hastily constructed fort they've cobbled together in the center of the valley, only venturing out during the night to steal from unguarded Migmy farmsteads. As of late, however, the goblin populace has increased drastically, and they have grown more aggressive and bold in equal measure. Even the stronger, more intelligent hobgoblins have been spotted among their ranks, commanding their lesser kind in simple battle drills and crude battle formations. Migmy living closest to the valley have even awoken to unidentifiable roars as loud and gruesome as they have ever heard, only to be drowned out by quieter, more familiar screams. The goblins’ sudden rise in competence and organization leads me to a single conclusion—the arrival of a goblin lord. I cannot say if this goblin lord truly understands the importance of the valley he has constructed his savage fort atop, nor if he can comprehend the power that lies sleeping on the floor of the canyon he so zealously sends his sacrifices careening down upon. I only know that he must be dealt with if Fewmy Village is to know any measure of peace. "
