You can safely quit the game, no worries. By pressing Esc button it will warn you if progress won't be saved. The game will be updated in the future. As you may have seen, there is a selection in the menu "Extra stories". There will be added more stories, you will be able to play as different characters, even monsters, use their unique attacks and discover more stories of the game's world.
