A Bittersweet Goodbye: Wrapping Up Beehive Games

Seven years ago, I started Beehive Games LTD as a passion project. At the time, it was just me—I had a full-time job working on a project that didn’t excite me, and I had always dreamed of running my own indie games studio. So, I took the leap. Since then, we’ve released a couple of games, and while they didn’t bring in much money, that was never the main goal. It was about the joy of creating and sharing something with the world. But over the years, running this company alongside my full-time job—and later, alongside major life changes like getting married and having my first child—has taken a toll on me. What started as a passion project gradually became a major source of stress and anxiety, as I tried to balance everything. The financial and administrative burdens only made things harder, and with new UK accounting regulations coming next year requiring costly commercial software, it just doesn’t make sense to keep the company going. So, what does this mean? Getting There and Space Haters will be delisted from the steam store in the coming weeks, (around the 31st of march). It’s been an incredible journey, and despite the challenges, I’m grateful for every moment. Thank you to everyone who supported us along the way—we truly appreciate it!
