0.9.5_10190 ๐ŸŽ‰ Snacko Roadmap Update + 1 Year Annivesary

Meowllo everyone! Last year, on December 6th, we finally launched Snacko into Early Access! Recursive and I have been working on this game since...2019. So, it's been a long...long...longgg journey. Before I get into the patch notes, let's take a look at our roadmap first...
๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Snacko Roadmap to 1.0
We are planning to do four major updates before 1.0 We're currently working on overhauling the mine system. It'll be a lot different than how it is currently, with the layouts more conductive to Snacko's current gameplay and mechanics that has more room for movement mechanics and zoomed out camera use. We're still in the early stages, but here's a sneak peak and what we've been slowly designing and cooking up for 0.9.6! If you're curious, we always post little snippets of what we're working on occasionally in Discord. Not as official updates or anything, just casual messages! So, feel free to join and chat. We have an amazing community ๐Ÿซถ Like always, between each major update, we'll continue to update the game with smaller updates, bug fixes, optimizations, and quality of life improvements.
๐Ÿ“ฌ Changes

๐Ÿ›’ Item Drop Optimizations
Those who like to resource gather may have noticed that clearing large swathes of foliage with your sword can slow your game down over time. Sometimes, it can eventually crash your game! But have no fear, recursive has optimized them...to a scary extent. We hope this makes your lawnmower (sword) and bomb arrow experience much more fun when out collecting goodies.
๐Ÿ˜บ Giant Bibbles Plush
Since you guys asked so nicely, you can now obtain a Giant Bibbles Plush. It requires three Stuffed Nobu Jr.'s to craft, but you'll get one as a reward early on for completing "A Curious Cat".
๐Ÿ“ฆ Storage Containers
You can now name storage containers and they will pop up as you approach them. If you have items inside already, pressing the "hold" button while near it will auto-deposit the ones in your rucksack into that storage container.
๐Ÿฅ‚ Thank You!
I think for both of us, the past year has been one of the hardest for us, both physically working on it daily and mentally. It's taken a toll on us, but we're finally closer to the end than we are to the beginning. This is a screenshot from 2019, when we first started working on Snacko. Back then, you had to walk around to preview buildables, and it was tile-based placement. You couldn't do half tiles, or free rotate, or stacking. It was pretty limited... It's kind of crazy to look back through what is nearly five years worth of almost daily work to see the build mode in what it is today...all with gamepad support, too! It's one of those things that feels and seems impossible to do, but we chipped at it slowly, and now we have Snacko in its current form. Every time someone makes a post on social media or says something in Discord, it reminds us that people do play the game, and they enjoy it! That's crazy!!! It can get tough being holed up in our rooms just working all the time. The pressure of continually delivering on the new patches, making sure we don't break old save files, testing the game, and figuring out how to keep our bills paid... It's been really hard on us, but we're almost there. Thank you so much for the support you've given us, no matter when you joined the community! Please consider sharing us with your friends! It helps us out a lot ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿ‘ˆ
So for a quick rundown of what we've done since our EA release...

New UI with expanded dark mode
World themes to change the look of the game
Progression rebalancing and redesign to better pace the story
Quest system with new UI, storylines, and over 50+ newly written quests
Build mode upgrades
Better gamepad support and routing + Steam Deck support
Start of a character customization system
Ability to expand your house to add more rooms and change the wallpaper and flooring
New crafting recipes and placeable items
Blueprint shop to better pace item unlocks
New movement tech including sword dashing, double jumping, and pickaxe bouncing with smoother controls
Tool upgrades that add different effects to existing tools, like spread shot arrows
Ability to send and receive items from other players...completely offline!
There's tons of other smaller things, but that covers the big ones we've pushed out since last December. That's 269 patches we've put out...and counting! Thank you to everyone who has played, reported a bug, posted a screenshot, chatted, talked about us...honestly, anything!
Thank you for our first year on Steam, let's have a great 2025! ๐Ÿ’–
- with love, enralis & recursive
